Policies & Amenities
» Registrations are valid with full payment. Register up to three days before class by phone, walk-in or mail (not by voice mail). Cash (not by mail), checks, VISA, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted. Registration confirmations are issued via email upon request. Class fees are not prorated.

» Class Cancellations
due to weather or faculty illness will be rescheduled based on classroom and staff availability, but are not guaranteed. Under-enrolled classes will be cancelled three business days prior to the first day of class.

» Refunds
are not given after the second class. A 50% charge will be withheld for cancellations less than four business days prior to first class meeting.

» Student Artwork
not picked up within two weeks of the end of the session will be discarded.

» General Open Studio
is free of charge and open to all adult students enrolled in the current session.

» Ceramics Open Studio
is available, for a fee, to adult students currently enrolled in FIA ceramics courses.

» Pre-College Portfolio Program is a three-year subsidized program designed to strenghten the visual art skills of gifted high school freshmen interested in pursuing a college education in the arts. Applications are due in December; call for details. This program has been made possible by the James A. Welch Foundation and the Stella and Frederick S. Loeb Charitable Trust administered by the FirstMerit Corporation.

» Scholarships are available to those students who could otherwise not afford to take classes. Applications are available in the Art School office or online. To be eligible, applicants must disclose their household income and provide a copy of their most recent federal income tax return. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students on a first-come first-served basis while funding remains. Scholarships will not cover the full cost of attendance.

» Art Supplies are discounted 20% in the FIA Museum Shop (for enrolled students only).

» The Palette café offers a 10% discount to members on all Starbucks® coffee selections.

» Scholarships
are distributed based on need. Applications are available on a walk-in basis only in the Art School office or FIA front desk. To be eligible, applicants must write in their household income on the application. If awarded a scholarship, a minimum co-pay of $20 must be submitted by the first class. Late co-payments may forfeit the scholarship. Individuals may be awarded three scholarships in a two-year period of time. Designated FIA program involvement may waive this restriction. Scholarships are limited to two per household per session.

» FIA Membership

• Members receive 20% off art classes and priority enrollment.

• Enrolled students who are also members of the FIA receive a 20%

discount on art supplies available in the FIA Museum Shop.

• Members receive a 10% discount on items in The Café.

• Free Gallery admission to all FIA exhibitions.

Other benefits include a bi-monthly FIA Members Magazine, discounts on ticketed events, invitations to openings, lectures & special events, inclusion in the Founders Society, and art rental privileges from the Art Sales & Rental Gallery.

Lockers may be rented in the Art School office with your own lock for $13 per session, or $35 per year. The FIA is not responsible for items lost or stolen from lockers, galleries or studios. Lockers may not be rented by phone.
