Bray Gallery

This beautiful gallery showcases 15th-18th century Italian, French,
Flemish, and Spanish decorative arts, including furniture, ceramics
and sculptures. The core of this special collection, donated to
the Flint Institute of Arts by Flint collector and philanthropist
Viola E. Bray, is a magnificent set of 17th century French tapestries
designed by Simon Vonet (French, 1590-1649) made in the Gobelin
tapestry factories of de la Planche and de Comans, a rare painting
of an angel on a shaped panel by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) originally
part of the altarpiece for the church of St. Walburge in Antwerp,
an extremely fine majolica wine cistern by a terra-cotta by Ovazio
Fontana (d. 1571), and a white glazed terra-cotta figure of an angel
by Giovanni della Robbia (1469-1529).
