The Flint Institute of Arts is committed to promoting understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts through high quality programs. We believe art is a vital component of life and that learning is a lifelong process. Our educational programming provides dynamic and enriching experiences for people of all ages with all levels of familiarity with art.
Our programs invite people to gain greater understanding and enjoyment of the FIA’s outstanding permanent collection and special exhibitions. They are designed to present learning opportunities that are rich in content and stimulate imagination, thought and creativity.
We invite you to visit the FIA to Look, Wonder, and Experience the visual arts!
The FIA will once again join a network of museums across the nation offering free admission to active duty military and their families from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Blue Star Museum program was established as a way to acknowledge the many sacrifices made by our military personnel by making it possible for them to enjoy museums in cities throughout the United States. Visit BlueStarMuseums.com for a list of other participating institutions.
International Museum Day
Sunday, May 18
The Flint Institute of Arts will join a worldwide community of museums on May 18 to celebrate International Museums Day. This year's theme will be "Museum collections make connections." The theme is a reminder that museums are living institutions that help create bonds between visitors, generations and cultures.
It is the conviction of the sponsoring organization, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) that "museums have demonsrated that their presence and their actions can change society in a constructive manner."
